Guilty Plea by Post
A mitigation letter is a letter written by a barrister or solicitor that sets out the valid and persuasive reasons as to why the court ought to view your case with some sympathy and take those reasons into account before sentencing you. It points out that although you have pleaded guilty, there are some good arguments to advance on your behalf to lessen the sentence - whether it be imprisonment, a fine, points or some other sentence.
